In good old Shine fashion I'd like to play a game.... If we can reach a stretch goal of $300 in donations for this month by the end of this month (10 days) I will give a 25% discount on all stratis gear levels for the first week of May.     Interesting idea, it'dd be a pain for out of game admins, but potentially something we can look into for in game admins, Though they do have a"warn" function which will popup in game.

    So tanks came out, bless. Due to recent ongoing bugs and updates, Malden has been set back a bit. Even so, I wanted to update everyone about where we are at with it. The core of the server is done, with only really finishing touches and cosmetics remaining(map info, etc). Below will be some of the main features of Malden. -Stores, pricing has been upped a bit on everything vs stratis, money will be flowing in and out alot. This is to balance and reflect changes in gear levels, as well as maximum bank values. -Stores, part 2. All heavy calibre sniper rifles and LMG's will not be directly available for store purchase. These items will be available from missions only, ammo will be purchasable in store at premium fees. Malden is a large map, and honestly its a snipers dream, so rather then a huge camp fest day in and day out. Players will need to work for their long ranged trophies, which will also put you as a target for players as well. -Max bank Value. The maximum bank a player is allotted will be $5 million. This is in part to do with changes in gear levels, as well as to balance out players spamming vehicles. -Parking. Parking will be available for playing to use across the map. This will give temporary storage to their hard earned mission vehicles. 10k storage fee attached to each vehicle. -Beacons. Due to the size, beacon counts have been doubled per individual player. Each player will be allowed 4 beacons set up at any given time. However I have also extended the cooldown on use. -Gear levels... This is the big one, Gear levels will run differently then Stratis. Each level will cost your max bank ($5million) to upgrade. This is due to Malden not supporting prestige and VA as endgame content. I decided on this due to the ongoing concerns surrounding VA, and its viability with a new server and a fresh start. Because of us removing this I've created a variable gear system which will be based on the class you select in the lobby. The current classes are: Combat Medic Sniper Engineer Diver Each class will have its own loadout and item perks specific to it as your Gear Level progresses. Each class will have upgraded gear for each single Gear Level obtained. If youre level 4 the loadout of each class will be updated to that level. Thats it for the main updates and information for now. Will update further once things are sorted out. Regards, Shine

    I'll add to this as well... I'm a VA user, I've had it for over half a year so honestly these changes effect me as well. However, as someone who has probably put more time into the server and community in the time I've been here, then some members have been members, there are some clarifications that the arma side of the community needs to understand. As Mokey said, VA's end goal was never to give you a replacement for the store. We've all enjoyed it as such, but over the almost 2 years I've been here, I've been reminded and well aware of what the final goal with VA was going to be. It's fate has been decided long before the current argument, and quite frankly as a person who has plenty of hours on the server the changes are well warranted. Yes there are kinks right now, and the final balances are still in the works. I would think offering help, and suggestions would be the best answer in finding what that balance is. I played today with the VA changes, I noticed a major difference.... When I clicked a place to spawn I had full control from the instance I spawned, even from a Beacon I could float where I wanted instantly. You know what else I noticed? Nothing, absolutely nothing changed in terms of game play. And before you say "oh Shine you dont spawn in with tons of equipment, so you wouldn't understand" As with Stinky I have plenty of loadouts, of various means and for various purposes. HOWEVER, even with the missing rockets, and magazines nothing has changed. Maybe I have to go to a store sooner at some point, but honestly from the 2 hours I played it didn't come up. As Owners, and Developers we have to continuously monitor the Server for a variety of factors. Gameplay balance, economy, player count...the list goes on. When a problem comes up that we've received enough concern for as a whole, we deal with it. Its part of the ongoing updates to ensure our server survives, is fun, and is a place where players can return to. Our newer players will always be at a disadvantage, as with any game. BUT at the same time, we won't get newer players if the first person they face spends an hour spawning in and killing them with rpgs and nothing else. We had the same issue with the UAV's, something that was even easier to obtain. We tested out new loadout functions to the extreme and people abused it too. If you were in the shoes of these newer players, would you stay? Would you keep playing a game of "oh i died to an rpg" again and again and again? Players like to abuse things to feel on top, that's the way of it. I don't know why people can think its fun or skillful or interesting, but they do. Tactics aren't important if there's no consequence. Wasteland is built on tough choices and consequence, there is and should always be a risk and reward. If players feel cheated for not wanting to face them, then have a good argument as to why. Members, I have currently seen a side to a lot of you I'm disappoint in. Very few of you have offered advice, or suggestions, but rather you've taken the time to complain, and berate hard work which has kept this community running. I've been on your side of the fence with changes and even had my own disagreements with some, yet I've still maintained a mature attitude and understanding in relation to them. I expect better of all of you. Our [FRAC] players are alleged to be the biggest pains of ass on our server, and from experience in my time, VA isnt what made us a pain. If its really needed to the extent its currently being used and abused right now...I'm not sure whats happened to the skill and fun we used to have and enjoy. VA is expensive, but honestly I don't see the value being lost from a player standpoint even with the changes, as said I've already used it post change with no difference. There will continue to be ongoing adjustments to magazine count, ammo count, and item count. This change is still in early stages. So that said, offer your suggestion on what numbers should be where, be helpful and help make something good as opposed to complaining about why its bad. That's all I have to say for now, there's more pressing concerns with bugs and developments in terms of Arma then the squabble that has erupted over this.
